An Acquaintance with the Daily Life of a Primary School Teacher

If you are to evaluate the quantitative attribute of a primary school teacher, you are more likely to find huge similarities with the nature of a mother. A primary school teacher stands to be a figure just after the mother and the father, the second ideal for a child. She is the ocean of inspiration, the intermediate connection between the child and the outer world and plays an important role in society. Yes, she is often a child’s first love!

This demands a personality that amalgamates almost every quality of being an appropriate and ideal human being, maintaining equilibrium while handling students of all age groups. However, an essential quality of a primary school teacher is the sustainment of patience. The person is required to infuse the spirit of patience as one of the prime aspects of life. Most of the primary school remains scheduled to within 7 am or even earlier. Being a teacher, you are to reach before the children arrive.

A primary school teacher is required to know the trick that stands necessary to transmit the knowledge to the children in a playful manner.

Things to Consider Before Embarking on Your TEFL Adventure

TEFL learning and certification is steadily picking up interest globally. More and more people are opting for TEFL certification as successfully completing the course can land you in a foreign locale with a job that pays good remuneration. But there are certain things, facts and may be figures that you need to consider before opting for the course or embarking on a TEFL adventure.
EFL/ESL teaching jobs are filled with the promises of fun and plenty of thrills. I mean, who wouldn't want to take up a job in exotic locations? Though it may sound quite appealing, without proper preparation your foreign dreams could turn into a teaching nightmare even before you know it. Stepping into an unfamiliar arena isn’t easy. To get ready and equipped for your TEFL prospect, consider the following:
Find out/research about the place
It may sound quite apparent but many people leave for their teaching job without proper research or gathering information. Proper research regarding the local culture and tradition is a must. You need to gather as much information as possible before you leave. Try finding out whether it is a rural countryside or a bustling metropolis where you will be teaching in. Religious matters and societal norms vary from one country to another, so it's very important to acquire knowledge regarding any feelings you might come across to ensure you don't cause any offense.
Pay attention to clothes
It is particularly important to pay attention to what you carry in terms of clothing. It’s totally unnecessary to carry all life in a suitcase! It is also of equal concern to pay particular attention to the dress code of your school. You should be prepared with formal clothes and comfortable, practical shoes. You don’t want to ruin your first day impression in the school, so you need to dress accordingly. Especially for those headed to Thailand. Teachers there are held in high respect and so your dress should reflect that.
Make sure you know your work
TEFL jobs do not always involve teaching primary school children. Some job prospects may lead you to offices to teach business English or take adult learning classes. This is in a totally different direction from teaching kids and your teaching strategies will have to be completely different in terms of the ways and the content. Knowing your students will allow you to research on any content that may be useful and you can commence to plan your lessons.
Wages
Be aware of the remuneration packages and benefits. Your salary package will fund your travels and will help you send some money back home. Your pay will obviously depend on where you work and your previous experience but research on if you are receiving a fair wage or not. Research about your school and make sure their teachers are properly paid on time and in full. Letting yourself to be exploited is not even an option. Beware of private language schools which fall outside the concern of educational authorities.
Carry important items
Carry important items such as:
•    Documents that includes passport, visa, photocopies of passport, transcripts, certificates, photocopies of all documents etc.
•    Carry prescription medication along with you, it is very important that you prepare beforehand and pack accordingly.
•    A laptop or tablet is an excellent way to communicate with friends and family back home.
•    Carry one month’s salary if possible, or carry enough money.
Prepare for a difference in culture
It is one of the most important things to consider. It may take some time before getting accustomed to the education environment to get in grip with the rest, but the whole process is worth it. You need to remember that you’re there to teach, and not to revamp the system. Just go with the flow and try not to get stressed out over things you can’t control. Focus on your students and teach them to your best ability.

Experience Kolkata’s Tryst with Culture while Pursuing an in class TEFL Course

Kolkata, the City of Joy, is considered the cultural hub of India and has also been the pioneer city in Indian renaissance. For a long time and to this day it has been known for its literary, artistic and revolutionary heritage. Kolkata’s culture draws many tourists from across the globe, especially during Durga Puja. An in class TEFL/ TESOL course in Kolkata to gain expertise for teaching abroad can be a perfect reason to experience the varied and colourful culture of Kolkata.
As a TEFL/TESOL course in Kolkata will give you a scope to explore Kolkata, it will also give a scope to sharpen your skills and polish your expertise in the field of TEFL/TESOL to give a fitting start to your career as a TEFL teacher to teach internationally. Many countries have great demand for TEFL certified teachers who would help them with English communication skills.
So while your stay in Kolkata, you will notice and as well enjoy the cultural spirit of the city. You may also find yourself drawn to it and indulge in the same. Allow me to discuss some of the common cultures followed by Kolkatans.

The Para (neighbourhood) culture in and around Kolkata is quite prevalent and varies on a different note from area to area. These paras come with a strong sense of community, and are by and large sharply defined on the basis of loyalties. But, the para culture is fast fading out with the rise of apartment complexes thus giving rise to a cosmopolitan nature.
In leisure time Kolkatans love to indulge in a good gossip over a bhaar of cha (tea in earthen cup) and some savouries, which is lovingly known as adda. An adda may be defined as an informal chitchat or a form of intellectual exchange between members taking part in the same.
Wall graffiti is another noted feature among the culture of Kolkata. If you are roaming around the, chances are that you may come across one or more wall graffiti at places. These are mainly used for political propaganda and not for vandalism or counterculture art. Many generations of political graffiti artists have been at work on Kolkata's walls, producing malign, humorous mockery and rhythmical, parody and propaganda.
Next up is the traffic and commuter culture which is quite different from the rest of India. What sets Kolkata apart from other states and cities is the co-existence of tram and underground metro. Other than that, buses, auto rikshaws, taxis ply on different routes. Kolkatans are considered aggressive commuters, but with a sense of humour.
When it comes to music, art and literature, Bengalis tend to have a special appreciation for it. Art, literature and movies are considered weaknesses for them. Bengali literature was taken to newer heights by Rabindranath Tagore, Michael Madhusudan Dutt, Kazi Nazrul Islam and many others. Kolkata houses the Bengali film industry, known as Tollywood which produces commercial as well as art films. Nandan is a popular cinema complex in the premiers of Rabindra Sadan, maintained by the state government. This theatre complex holds regular shows of national and international cinema. Kolkatans, who are movie fanatics, are regular audiences here for shows of their favourite movies. This place sees an amalgamation of people from various fields spending their leisure time. Rabindra Sangeet and Rabindra Nritya is an integral part of a Bengali’s life.
Food is another passion cum love for a true Kolkatan who are foodies by heart. Ask any one about their favourite food joints and chances are that you’ll end up with a list of it! Kolkata’s vast repertoire of delicious dishes will spoil you for choice. Street foods like kathi rolls and phuchka are very popular. Common accompaniments to Phuchka are things dishes like Churmur, Ghugni. Momo and thukpa are also popular street foods. A Bengali meal is incomplete without sweets. Popular sweets include Roshogolla, mishti doi (sweet curd), lyangcha, Kheerkadam, sandesh, rajbhog, Kamalabhog, etc.
There are endless discussions and angles to the culture of Kolkata which is impossible to be fitted into one blog. But it sure is an interesting yet fun blend of different tastes that leads to a beautiful memory. So it is advisable to all the aspirants that if you are hoping for a career in Teaching English abroad with a TEFL certification, you should opt for an in class mode in Kolkata and enjoy the best of both worlds.

Post Graduate Diploma Nursery Teachers Training Program for Aspirants

Toddlers and young children are by nature curious and have a strong desire to gather knowledge on things that are present around them. This is the time when their self-discovery and exploration process commences. They are blessed with an inquisitive mind and always seem to be full of questions because of their highly active brain and if encouraged from an early age by the nursery teachers, will certainly be a huge benefit for them in the long term. So to speak, nursery schools do not really focus on the formal education of the children, as they are not meant to do so, rather they are introduce and acquaint the children to manners and etiquette and as well provide them the chance and opportunity to socialism and interact with others thereby helping them in developing their social skills and mannerisms and become an active member of society.

Nursery schools emphasize on the various different activities, which can either be indoors or outdoors that will engage the children and also prove beneficial for their all-round development. Activities may range from games, role play, puzzles, etc. For the modern learners there are different learning aids too available with the schools, which also help in drawing and holding the attention of the children for the desired amount of time span.It is also through these various activities that they engage in the nursery school that the children learn to work in groups, share and help each other when the other falters.
Attending pre-schools also encourage creativity among the pre-schoolers and helps in shaping his personality as well as his future. It is the very foundation on which his next educational life depends. Hence it is solely the teacher’s responsibility of making his learning interesting to the young learners. A good pre-school experience will encourage the child towards higher education and ensure that he finds interest in the daily activities performed in his school.
Therefore in order to take care as well as ensure the growth and development of the students, schools prefer trained teachers who are properly acquainted and are well aware of the modern teaching methodologies that are effective for the 21st century kids.
Nursery teaching is all about identifying the children’s areas of expertise and the area for development and then nurturing and developing them effectively. For instance, a 3 year child may have good verbal skills but poor motor skills while for some other kids it may be vice-versa where he/she may have excellent motor skills but poor verbal/speech skills. It is then purely up to the teachers to help the child with his developmental process.
Teaching kids with the knowledge that they are the future citizens and leaders of the country and that they are part of helping them reach their potentials, also make a teacher’s job fulfilling and satisfying.
A trained teacher not only knows the effective ways of handling and dealing with children, but also acquires the traits required to become an accomplished pre-school educator and have a successful career. Well recognized teacher training institutes offering nursery teacher training courses offer course programs primarily of two levels – Diploma and PG Diploma. Both the Diploma and PG Diploma courses are designed for the aspiring teachers as well as on-the-job teachers.
However, if the aspirant has some knowledge regarding nursery teaching and is quite serious to have a great career in the same field, then PG Diploma program will be apt for the aspiring candidates.Since Education sector is a dynamic one, hence being in this profession involves one to be in the continuous learning and development process. Post Graduate Diploma course curriculum usually comprises of lessons on Child Health & Nutrition, Modern Strategies of Teaching Young Learners, Child Psychology, Use of Different Modern Teaching Aids, Classroom Management, Language Development, and even make them competent enough to create and develop teaching materials. With all these qualities been taught in the course, trained teachers will always be preferred over their non-trained counterparts.
However, since nowadays most courses are available in the online mode of learning, the nursery P G Diploma being no different, even the busiest of aspirants can avail the course and look forward to a successful and gratifying career for themselves.
